**Warning: It has been 28 years since my dad died, and some days my grief is still raw. If you have recently lost someone you love, this may not be the post for you. It should not be offensive, but could cause intense emotions, which may just be too much for today. But please know you are loved, and that I am here for you.***
Happy Father’s Day
To those current and past
Be sure to make memories
That will last and last
One of the best
That I have of my dad
Is when he saved my life
On a ride that went bad
I was on a motorcycle
On a carousel-like ride
But I fell on the floor
And I truly could have died
The guy running the ride
Didn’t notice at all
And my dad jumped right on up there
And answered the call
He turned the ride off
Though unsure of what to do
And saved his oldest baby
And showed his love through and through
When he died in ‘95
We had mixed feelings at best
There were some rough memories
But in all we were blessed
Sometimes it’s hard
To remember out loud
But I wish he could see me
He would be so proud
So if you are blessed
With a dad to this day
Be grateful and love him
Because one day he’ll go away
And to my dear friends
Who are grieving the lost
Know you’re never alone
Loving hard comes with a cost.
All my love,
Liz
